South By Southwest crowds are no joke. This year, like every year, Capital Metro will do the extra work while you get stuff done, meet great people and see some amazing shows.
There’s really no need for you to spend any mental energy on where to leave your car, how much parking costs or appointing a designated driver. Leave all that to us by jumping on MetroRapid to or taking MetroRail.
CapMetro service will be extended during the weeks of SXSW and will fit your schedule most every time. Here’s what you need to know:
From the first day of SXSWedu until the music festival ends at a time that seems like it’s both way too soon and not nearly soon enough, we’ll offer extended hours and increased service to ensure that you’ve got one less thing to worry about and can instead concentrate on having a good time.
- MetroRapid– Hours extended to 2:30 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and Sunday service extended till 12:30 a.m.
- MetroRail– Service extended daily, with Saturday and Sunday service both starting before 10:30 a.m.
- Late-Night Service– Night Owl buses will operate until after 3 a.m. at double their normal service capacity most days.
Getting to the airport
Whether you’re headed into or out of town, MetroAirport will take you all the way to and from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport for $1.25. And, for those of you sticking around through the end of the music festival, MetroAirport will run every 30 minutes throughout Sunday, March 19.
Your best tool for getting around during SXSW is the CapMetro App. Buy passes, look up schedules and maps, or get real-time information on when the next bus departs. You can buy a 7-Day Pass that will last throughout your time at the festival or Single Ride Passes that take you where you need to go right now.
We’re serious about safety, and you should be too. There’s absolutely no reason to try to drive when you know you’re gonna have a few drinks or if you already have. Take advantage of Cap Metro’s Late-Night Services and let us do the driving for you.
