All routes, except for MetroAirport Route 100, will, instead, make stops near 4th, 8th and 12th Streets along the new corridor.
What you need to know:
Beginning June 3, the following Capital Metro routes will be detoured onto Guadalupe and Lavaca during the X Games event on Congress: 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 10, 19, 20, 30, 37, 127, 142, 171, 412, 483, 485, 935 and 990.
After the X Games detours, most routes will permanently stay on new routes effective Sunday, June 8 due to Summer Service Changes, including: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 19, 21, 22, 30, 37, 122, 127, 142, 990 and Night Owl Routes.
The shift of service off Congress was planned in 2010 as part of Capital Metro’s Service Plan 2020 to address daily operations and identify key improvements that would create more direct, reliable trips to enhance the customer experience, and fewer stops to increase service speed.
Benefits of the Guadalupe/Lavaca corridor:
Key transfer locations – Routes will connect at major stops along Guadalupe and Lavaca to help riders transfer more easily between Local, Express and MetroRapid services.
Transit priority lanes and bike lanes – Dedicated bus lanes bypass traffic between MLK and Cesar Chavez Street downtown, and include a companion bike lane.
New bus stop amenities – Stops have been upgraded from the ones on Congress, and feature covered shelters and benches.
Fewer event-related detours – By moving traffic off busy Congress, buses will be able to avoid special events downtown that previously caused detours, offering a more direct trip through downtown.
