From time to time, we’d like to highlight some of our favorite tweets about Capital Metro. You can follow us on Twitter: @capmetronews & @capmetrorail
Remember that if you need immediate assistance (where’s the bus?, the bus is late, etc.) or need more space than 140 characters, your best bet is probably to call the GO Line at (512) 474-1200. Another option is to send an email. The more details you can provide, the better job we can do at helping you.
OK, here’s a sample of tweets from the past couple of weeks. It’s by no means a complete list, but a decent sample nonetheless:
Happy Customers:
@CapMetroNews I like the new horn on the #capmetro rail. Much less obtrusive!
Furthermore, Austin residents, you should always take the @CapMetroNews 21 bus around 11am from campus. NICEST bus driver I ever met.
@CapMetroNews your board shoulda been on the 320 at Comal/6th. Driver did a FANTASTIC job maneuvering back from a lost semi. We all clapped!
@CapMetroNews Thanks for the virtuosic bus-driving highlights reel. I think many of your drivers have super-hero super-powers.
On @CapMetroNews red line using wifi on the train. Not to bad
@capmetronews brought it this morning. One of the nicer buses I’ve been on. Cushioned seats. More like an airplane than a bus on here.
great first experience on the @CapMetroRail this morning… clean, modern feel… efficient access to the Capitol… so many helpful ppl too
successful afternoon of capmetro commute planning for the new gig. metrorail primary + 101 secondary = no more I-35 sitting
Waiting for the @capmetrorail http://instagr.am/p/cnKJ/
Complaint Department:
@CapMetroNews I’m not feeling this uncomfortable 982 bus and its crowded!
tried Metrorail this morning. Was OK, but I can do the commute more quickly and safely with the good old-fashioned 101 bus.
I love CapMetro! Always on time! #sarcasm
@CapMetroNews Bus 8903 blocking the box at 9th and Congress. Not cool.
@CapMetroNews. Rates go up and service quality degrades? Still no sign of the southbound 10 bus and its already 20 min late.
@PunkSoda agreed. They need to fire Capmetro and hire an agency that responds to the city. (More sxsw service, more acl busses) etc.
Suggestion Box:
Wouldn’t it be cool if you could go to the @CapMetroNews website and see where each bus is at via GPS tracking of some kind?
Note: Neighborhood parking can be a (worthwhile) challenge, but the Capmetro # 22 bus drops off right at Maplewood…
Wonder how much time @CapMetroNews express bus routes could save on commute times if the @ImproveMopac project is built as express lanes?
@SNAPPatx request to have @capmetrorail install an #itouch or #Dell_streak or #Samsung_Galaxy_tab in back seats.
Is thankful, but wishes @capmetrorail would run 7 days. Public transit in chitown actually works all week long
@CapMetroNews Cool! Now if we can just have Cedar Park Center service for the @TexasStars (pretty please?) in reply to CapMetroNews

Santa rides capmetro http://plixi.com/p/62414885 #bustweets
@dustindonham give it time, go for a ride & tell your friends. @capmetro’s working it out.
Rode @CapMetroRail today as an actual paying customer. Took bike to East Austin meeting, decided to rail home: http://tinyurl.com/2afmdlo
Casually mention I take @CapMetroRail 2 work on occasion. Result: Look of surprise on lady’s face. “We have a train? When did we get that?”
Drats! Guess everyone else decided to take the same Mopac detour. This is when I wish I had taken @CapMetroRail.
News Desk:

I gotta second the suggestion to offer service to the Cedar Park Events Center for hockey games and other large events. I live in downtown Austin without a car and I just can’t go to hockey games in Cedar Park unless I’m with someone who’s driving. If I could take a bus — or even a vanpool — from downtown to the game and then back to downtown, I might never miss a Texas Stars game, and I bet the service could be marketed to enough hockey fans to make it viable.
Don, the population of car-free people who want to go to hockey games up there but don’t have a car is likely limited to: Don.
Yes and no, Mike. There are quite a few who simply feel it’s too far to drive and too much traffic to fight.
Here’s a question: Why is all this sort of stuff in the ‘burbs anyways? The Express are in Round Rock and the Texas Stars are in Cedar Park. Did these organizations get a deal from these cities that Austin wasn’t willing to match? Is this such a Longhorn town, that no other sports would work in the city?
This is certainly not unique to Austin. Most of the sports venues in the Dallas area are in the ‘burbs as well. It’s just frustrating that it is that way.
