Happy Earth Day!

Today is the 40th anniversary of Earth Day.  Treehugger.com asked some top bloggers: “Does Earth Day Really Matter?”  Many will agree that being “green” is very mainstream and has lost its luster, but that doesn’t mean we should ignore the true meaning behind it.  Earth Day started in 1970 with a movement to raise awareness about pollution and encourage people to respect and preserve our planet.

The message still holds true today.  There are so many ways we can be  environmentally conscious, but if you’re serious about making a difference, you should be using Capital Metro (or any other alternative mode).  Riding public transportation is the most effective way you can reduce your carbon footprint.  If you’re not sold, then try using this carbon calculator and determine what a difference you can make by using transit instead of driving.

We want to thank all of our customers for riding today and everyday.  You’re doing your part to help protect the planet!

  1. I would if you didn’t leave out Austin’s high-tech corridor. A route along 360 with WI-FI could completely change transportation on that road.
